<h4>Why Cristina</h4>
Named after Marimar's daughter, this wine is a selection of 20 barrels from a unique blend of our Pinot Noir clones that we feel best represents the terroir, or personality, of the Don Miguel Vineyard.

<h4>The Vinification</h4>
<br>
The grapes were harvested September 10 - 13, 2002. Each clone and parcel picked was vinified separately in small stainless steel tanks, after minimal crushing, with about 15% whole clusters. The berries were “punched down” for gentle extraction of color and tannin, then the wine was aged in premium French oak. The barrels were 80% new, from Rousseau and Remond Cooperages, and 20% one-year-old from Remond. They came from various forests: Bertranges, Allier, and Tronçais. After 11 months of oak aging the wine was bottled, unfiltered, in August 2003.

<h4>The Clones</h4>
The vineyard’s 30 acres of Pinot Noir are planted with seven different clones, yielding wines with complex layers of flavor. The blend of clones in this vintage is 48% Pommard, 23% Cristina 88, 23% Dijon 115, and 6% Dijon 667.

<h4>Tasting Notes</h4>
This is our first release of "Cristina Selection". The wine has a deep, dark cherry color and intense aromas of red fruits, blackberry and anise. It is mouth-filling, brooding, with firm rich tannins and great concentration. The wrap-around flavors never seem to end.
